BCU Aquatic First Aid (8 hours)

This course is to provide those involved in canoeing and other water-based activities with the basic knowledge and skills required to render First Aid should the need arise. This award is intended to address the First Aid incidents most likely to arise during canoeing situations which take place on very sheltered to moderate water and within a reasonable distance of medical assistance. The award is valid for 3 years.

Pre Requisite: No previous knowledge or experience required. Minimum 14 years old.

Cost per person:

  • 2 evenings (6pm - 9:30pm) - £60

Course Dates:

  • Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th March
  • Tuesday 22nd and Thursday 24th June
  • Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th September

Outdoor Emergency Incident Management (16 hours)

This is a two day course that meets the requirements of the MLTUK, BCU, RYA and other outdoor governing bodies as suitable for outdoor instructors. The course focuses on dealing with incidents far from medical help with the minimal equipment you would carry while participating in or leading outdoor activities. The emphasis is on practical skills with plenty of hands-on practice including lots of outdoor scenarios.  The award is valid for 3 years.

Pre requisites: No previous knowledge or experience required. Minimum 16 years old

  • 2 day course (9am - 6pm) - £120

  • Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th April

Young Persons First Aid Course

This course provides young people aged 8-16 years with a basic understanding of first aid. Participants will cover CPR, wounds and bleeding, fractures and dealing with scenarios. Each participant will receive a Young Persons First Aid certificate and a booklet.

Pre requisites: No previous knowledge or experience required

  • 1 or 2 evenings - £20

Teaching Orienteering Part 1

Aimed at teachers, youth sector workers and those working in schools and outdoor centres. The aim is to provide teachers and others working on school sites and other enclosed sites with the knowledge, understanding and practical ability to teach the basic skills of the sport of orienteering at Key Stages 2 and 3
.
Pre Requisite: No previous knowledge or experience required.

  • 1 day course (9.30 - 4pm) - £50
